Private information should not be kept in more than one place and it should be properly protected. OpenPim is the digital version of your locked drawer. It can be used to store important information, like personal notes, contact details, passwords and so on and you can keep it locked at all times, if you don't want other users to access your private information.

The software is absolutely free, it comes in various languages and it works on all popular Windows platforms. The setup file is only 404 KB and the wizard will install the program's components almost instantly. OpenPim asks only for .NET Framework 2, which comes preinstalled with all modern Windows versions.

You can browse through your personal information just like on a standard explorer window. The application allows you to create folders and sub-folders in a tree structure, for different content types. You may create folders for personal notes, contacts, web links, passwords and scheduled events. The entries themselves are listed in the larger area, on the right side of the interface.

New entries are defined on a separate window. Depending on what type of folder you select, the editing window will display different input fields. For example, if you create a passwords entry, you must specify a title, username, password and a URL. If you wish to create a web links entry, you just need to specify a name and paste the links itself.

The database can be saved as a single file, in the application's native format. Rather than encrypting the entire database, the application allows you to decide what information is worth protecting, by encrypting individual folders. If you have non-critical information to organize, you can access it immediately, without inserting your password.

Pros

You can organize critical and non-critical information in different folders, which can be encrypted separately. The application allows you to create entries for contacts, passwords, web links and more. The user interface has a simple design and it is very easy to understand.

Cons

There are no obvious issues to mention. With OpenPim, important information can be kept secure at all times, without any effort.
